A "mini-mini" for the forthcoming North Berwick Art Group Winter Show. Every artist who lives near the Bass Rock has to paint it occasionally. It is compulsory - resistance is futile.

North Berwick residents may recognise Quality Street. I don't know where this one came from, really. Almost finished I think, although I am toying with the idea of colouring NB's famous telephone/cash machine hybrid box red. But perhaps that way madness lies...
Pleased to report that my exhibition at Hangar Art is going very well. I'm going along again this afternoon for a couple of hours for a Meet the Artist session and will take this unfinished painting and another preparatory sketch, as people like to see the process.
Another of my favourite little blue boats. The reflections in the water will be very colourful - the painted old wall with benches along it is a nice deep coral colour. The timber benches are packed with people on a sunny day, enjoying the sun, or fish and chips - or lobster!
The first in my boat series to feature no boats. Not a single one. Floats and tyres though, a few of them. The harbour wall has turned out more tan than I really like so will have another go and tone it down to a more tasteful hue.
It looks like my favourite aqua lugger is no longer moored in the harbour, so this may be one of the last paintings that it features in. The green one is a nice shape too though.
I am delighted to be exhibiting at Hangar Art & Framing as their 'Artist on the Wall' for the month of September. Hanger Art is located at Fenton Barns retail village, open seven days a week and has easy parking. The Preview is from 12-4pm on Saturday 5th September, all welcome to come along for a glass of wine and to view the paintings and prints.
Westaway was being a bit recalcitrant so I started a painting with a bit more water. I do like a nice bit of wave action. No idea what I'll title this one though - I think I'll put it into the forthcoming North Berwick Art Show so will need to come up with something. Meanwhile I might try and finish off the big white boat in the background here. It's really rather a dull prospect which is why I have been putting it off. And don't talk to me about railings. (there's already been one refusal!)
